Experience

I have always excelled at standardized testing. My SAT scores were in the 700 range for both math and English when I was in high school. I gained a reputation as being a good tutor because I did not just teach subject matter; I also taught to the test. I explain to my students how the tests are structured; for example, I show them how to eliminate one or two of the answers from the start so that the odds of answering the question correctly improve to the point where they can make an educated guess. I am also very good at seeing through my students' eyes how they understand the problems so that I can be on the same page as they. In short, I am a very good teacher.

Hobbies

I am an intellectual. My undergraduate degree is from University of Chicago, which is an elite, private liberal arts university steeped in the Great Books program. I am also a musician; I was raised on classical music and played classical piano as a child, although I now play folk and bluegrass guitar. I am politically active and I am committed to helping kids learn how to think so that they develop a perspective of wanting to contribute to the world.
